Hospital Facilities

Toowong Private Hospital endeavours to provide a range of facilities designed to make your admission as beneficial and comfortable as possible.

Accommodation

  • The Hospital has both single and twin share rooms, with ensuite facilities in the majority of rooms.
  • Room availability is dependent upon clinical needs and patient numbers, and there may be times when your preference cannot be met.
  • For those rooms without ensuite facilities, male and female patient amenities are available.

Computer Access

  • A computer designated for patient use is located in the Library, situated in Milton House. For printing you will need to save the document/s to disc and a member of the Reception staff will arrange for the document/s to be printed.
  • Patients wishing to send or receive e-mail can dial from their telephone line in their room using their own personal computer/laptop. Patients may also request to access a Hospital computer for this purpose.

Food Services

  • Meals are served in the dining room where the weekly menu is displayed.
  • If you require a special diet or have particular requirements or preferences (e.g. a sandwich for lunch), please ask your nurse to arrange this.

    • Afternoon tea 3.00 - 3.30 pm
    • Dinner 5.30 - 6.30 pm
    • Super 7.45 - 8.30 pm
    • Late supper 10.00 - 10.15 pm

General Facilities

  • The Hospital has three courtyards and two lounge areas in which patients can relax with visitors or other patients.
  • Both lounge areas are also equipped with televisions, video player and DVD player.
  • Newspapers are available daily in the Recreation Lounge, Wing 2.
  • The Library, situated in Milton House and a bookcase in Wing 3 provides a range of reading material, including fiction and non-fiction novels, together with mental health information and pamphlets.

Gymnasium

  • A well-equipped gym is available for use.
  • Our gym instructors visit the Hospital Monday to Friday to undertake baseline assessments and develop exercise programs for inpatients, as part of their overall treatment plan.

Laundry

  • Washing machines and dryers are provided in the Patients' Laundry
  • The machines operate on 20 cent coins.
  • Washing powder can be purchased from the Nurses Station if required.

Telephones

  • Telephones are available in each room for each patient. Incoming calls will automatically be directed to the relevant patient telephone.
  • A refundable deposit can be paid at Main Reception to enable outgoing calls to be made from the allocated telephone at your bedside. This will enable you to phone directly (by first dialling 0 and then the telephone number) to any local, STD, or mobile number, dependent on your requirements.
  • In consideration of other patients you are encouraged to limit incoming calls, on both the landline and mobile phones, between the hours of 9pm and 7am.
  • Telephone calls will incur usual costs and a telephone account will be provided to you on a weekly basis from Main Reception.
  • Patients' telephone messages can be collected from the pink folder on the Reception Desk.
  • Should you want to restrict telephone calls or not want to take calls from particular people, inform the nursing staff and they will assist you.
