When You Leave

Discharge Proceedure

Please go to Reception before you are discharged. The reception staff will have:

  • your claim form etc ready for signing; and
  • accounts for additional charges not covered by your health insurance, including telephone, which are payable on discharge.

Hospital accounts are prepared weekly and on discharge. It is recommended that, prior to admission, contact be made with the hospital's reception staff who will confirm your level of cover and explain any billing details.

The hospital is able to arrange payments directly from your health insurer to the level of your membership cover. Any health insurance shortfall or incidental expenses can be settled by cash, cheque, or most major credit cards at reception. Discharge is generally between 10.00am and 12.00 midday.

On the morning of your discharge; your nursing staff will have ready for you:

  • medication and instructions
  • clinical discharge questionnaire
  • patient satisfaction questionnaire
  • any necessary follow up appointments

We are very interested in your feedback about the Hospital and its services, as it enables us to evaluate and improve our services for patients. You are therefore encouraged to take a few minutes to complete the Patient Satisfaction Survey at the time of your discharge.
