Christine Gee
Chief Executive Officer

Christine Gee has been the Chief Executive Officer of Toowong Private Hospital in Brisbane since 1997. She holds a MBA and her career in healthcare spans over twenty years across the public and private acute care sectors. Under her leadership Toowong Private Hospital established a Professorial Chair in Psychiatry and Population Health and has developed to become a nationally respected and recognised psychiatric facility. The Hospital is accredited with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and is a teaching hospital of The University of Queensland.

Christine holds a number of Board appointments across local, state and national arenas. She is President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association and Chairs its Safety and Quality Committee and Psychiatry Committee. She is Treasurer of the Private Hospitals Association of Queensland and a member of the Australian Government’s 2nd Tier Advisory Committee.

Christine has continually emphasised the necessity for private sector inclusion in the development and implementation of national quality and safety initiatives and was appointed to the former Australian Council for Safety & Quality in Health Care in 2003. In January 2006 Christine was appointed as a Commissioner with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care and she Chairs the Commission’s Private Hospitals Sector Committee.

Christine was awarded a Centenary Medal for distinguished service to the health industry in April 2003. In recognition of her contribution to the viability, growth, quality and achievements of the private hospital sector, she received the 2005 APHA Individual Achievement Award. In November 2007, Christine was awarded the Baxter Healthcare and Australian Council on Healthcare Standards Longstanding Service to Quality in Australian Healthcare award in honour of her longstanding individual service to safety and quality in Australian healthcare.

Dr Michael Beech
Director of Medical Services
Chair, Medical Advisory Committee

Dr Beech was appointed as the Director of Medical Services, Toowong Private Hospital, Brisbane in January 2002. He is the Chairman of the Toowong Private Hospital Medical Advisory Committee and undertakes teaching of medical students, psychiatry registrar supervision and private psychiatric practice. Dr Beech also provides clinical management to patients admitted under his care through the 1300 Acute Admission Service.

He is a practicing psychiatrist with interests in the areas of inpatient and forensic psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and has an ongoing commitment to psychiatric registrar training.

After graduating in medicine from The University of Queensland he spent ten years in North Queensland, a number of these as Medical Superintendent of Ingham Hospital. He has been a specialist psychiatrist with qualifications in child psychiatry for twelve years and prior to his appointment at Toowong Private Hospital, was Director of the South Brisbane Child and Youth Mental Health Service.

Pamela Gibb
Director of Clinical Services

Pam Gibb has been employed by Toowong Private Hospital in Brisbane since 2000 and has been the Director of Clinical Services since 2006. The Director of Clinical Services is one of the hospital’s senior management personnel, functions as a member of the Hospital Management Committee, and is responsible for clinical service delivery within the hospital.

Pam holds degrees in Health Science and Education and her career in healthcare spans over twenty five years across the public and private acute care sectors. She has gained a broad range of experience in mental health in senior management positions nationally and internationally.

David Sallows BA (Hons) FCCA
Director of Admin & Finance

David Sallows has been the Director Of Administration and Finance of Toowong Private Hospital in Brisbane since January 2003. The Director of Administration and Finance is responsible for all non-clinical services in the hospital including Finance, Administration, Information Technology, Hospitality and Maintenance.

David is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and holds a degree in Accountancy and Finance. He has gained a broad experience in senior management positions in a range of industries including: International Aviation logistics, Professional building services providers, Property management and Aggregate Distributors.

 

Andrew Butwell RN RPN BA Nursing
Community Services Manager

Andrew Butwell has been the Community Services Manager of Toowong Private Hospital since August 2007. The Community Services Manager is responsible for the operational management of a new initiative namely the Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program.

Andrew has worked in the health industry in excess of 20 years, specialising in mental health for the past 15 years. He has gained a broad experience in mental health clinical and senior management positions. Andrew has been in positions such as a Clinical Nurse Consultant and Team Leader in acute mental health settings in the public sector, and more recently as Director of Clinical Services at Toowong Private Hospital in 2006.
