Tailored Therapy Program
People can experience a variety of different effects and symptoms as a result of mental illness and mental health problems. The effective treatment of these can have a profound impact on a person's recovery. The Tailored Therapy Program is an individually focused program designed to address a person's specific mental health needs.
The program consists of a broad range of discrete modules designed to provide patients and their treating psychiatrist greater flexibility and control in implementing a treatment plan that meets the person's individual needs. The Program is provided for both inpatients and day patients. The day treatment sessions may be commenced during an inpatient admission and completed following discharge, or can be provided as day patient only.
Through the program, each patient's key issues are identified and targeted to facilitate recovery, including:
- Improving levels of functioning
- Enhancing interpersonal communication
- Managing stress and anxiety
- Developing effective coping skills
- Relapse prevention
- Setting goals and solving problems
- Effective illness management strategies
The specialist program team, in consultation with the patient and their treating psychiatrist, will provide an individualised treatment program utilising the following components:
Assessment
An initial assessment is performed on referral to the program to identify individual mental health needs. This includes planning and developing individual goals for treatment with the patient and the referring psychiatrist.
Group Treatment
The group treatment component of the program consists of a range of specifically focussed modules, available either independently or in combination. Day patients may attend program sessions on a full day or half day basis.
One-to-One Treatment
Individual sessions are available in conjunction with group treatment. These sessions may include specific assessment and/or skill development.
Practical Skills Development
The practical skills sessions provide opportunities to actively practice and develop skills introduced in other program components including relaxation training and community access outings.
Planning for Discharge
Specific review and planning sessions provide opportunities for the participant to identify goals and strategies to maintain recovery and prevent relapse.
